Delta Technical Coatings Inc./Rubber Stampede began in 1962 in a family garage with Dad, Mom, and three daughters mixing paint and filling bottles by hand. Wally Raley left a job in public school administration to launch out on his own. He studied everything he could find about manufacturing paints and coatings. Early on in the company’s history, Delta supplied custom colors to manufacturers of Rose Parade floats. Another turning point came with Raley’s development of a ceramic paint that didn’t need firing. Ceramcoat, a combination of “ceramics” and “coatings,” put Delta on the map. In 1981, Raley sold Delta to Diethelm & Keller (DK), a Swiss-based Company. In 1999, Delta acquired Rubber Stampede.
