Heidi Borchers has more than 40 years of creative design experience. Cake decorating, flower making, and, as she calls them, “gluing, gluing, and more gluing” classes as a child at her mother’s store really “cemented” her creative expressions. At the age of 18, Heidi took over the management of her mother’s retail store and soon opened her own retail/wholesale mail-order craft business, which she operated for 20 years. She is the author of more that 100 hardcover and softcover craft books. She is a regular contributing designer to several contemporary craft and lifestyle magazines. Heidi was featured on Aleene’s Creative Living television show, where she served as co-host and creative designer for more than 15 years. During that same time, Heidi and her daughter Starr Hall, teamed up to write and publish Where Do Angels Buy Their Clothes? followed by two more popular children’s books, Angel Food—What Do Angels Eat? and Jopalbers and Goodles. This busy artist and grandmother can be found daily at her newest venture, a Creative Spark, located in the quaint village of Cambria, California. At this funky, contemporary design studio, visitors can drop in and mosaic and paint their own pottery and create jewelry, collages, and more.
