The Company We Keep…

It’s sure fun to be in popular company! News of a new quilt book from Freddy Moran and Gwen Marston sparked a great response. Neither of them are wired, so I will print out the nice comments and send them off. It’s sure to make them smile.  Speaking of smiles, here is something to chuckle over from Freddy and Gwen. Someone gave Gwen this fabric, and the two of them used it in one of their new quilts. We giggled trying to come up with captions for the images. (Disclaimer: these were taken with my phone camera. A far cry from the professional work of Gregory Case.)

booblady1We decided this must be the Booby Hatch. Have any other funny ideas?

Don’t know about you, but I am battling a little Spring Fever. It’s Good Friday and I am trying to  finish up in the office so I can observe the rest of the day in contemplation of this important day. The work of author Teena Flanner comes to mind just prior to this weekend holiday. Teena’s work has been featured in many magazines, and we have always admired her wonderful paper mache figures.

bunny1Teena uses vintage chocolate molds to form her figures. This bunny is a beauty, and I love this glittered egg.another-egg-1

  1. Eileen, thank you so much for dropping in on my site/blog! I love your blog, the quilt photos and the 2 ladies! You can tell they are full of pizzazzz, something we need in this world! You are a creative spirit indeed!

That a fabric is a hoot and I bet that quilt is excellent. Booby Hatch is a terrific name.

  3. Cher says:

I could see that piece of fabric inspiring an entire quilt-who better than Gwen and Freddie? to explore the humor of it? Thanks for sharing this slice of what’s to come…again, I can hardly wait to get my hands on their new book.

  4. I am so excited to know that Gwen and Freddy have another book in the works… where can I place my pre-order?!?!?!?!?

I absolutely love their enthusiasm, their vibrancy, their free spirits, and the utterly amazing, joyfully fantastical quilts they create.

“Inspiring” barely begins to describe their effect(s) on my quilty-soul.

I love the name Booby Hatch, it’s very titillating. Freddy and Gwen are a breath of fresh air, or more like big gusts of fresh air!

I am so happy that I found your blog via Tonya. A second book from this dream team will fire my creative spirit as did the first one andwill be a wonderful backup for every designer who loves to use bold colours. I read your custodian story and find it very familiar even if I am at the start first and am really scared to emerge from my studio. Perhaps I should put on my reddest lipstick first or my new pair of shocking red shoes.

  7. It was great to see you tonight even if it was way too brief…way too brief…
